Fairy Flower Walk Concept
Storybrook Theme Park, Fairy Isle
By Darrias
Wow! Weve seen and done so many thrilling things here today. But this is what we expected when we came to the wonderful Storybrook Theme Park.
But now were in for an unexpected adventure. We are going to visit mysterious Fairy Isle and the enchanted lands that surround it. Our very first adventure is a walking tour through the magical gardens of the Fairy Flower Walk.
From the Central Plaza of the Fairy Isle we approach the entrance gate of the Fairy Flower Walk. A beautiful sculpted natural rock gate created in the style of Antoni Gaudí frames the entrance. Colorful flowers and plants encircle the gate with some growing up and over the gated entrance. A cooling mist and the sound of babbling brooks drift towards us as we enter.
Once pass the front gate we are immediately enveloped in a lush green world of flowers, vines, mossy rocks and towering fantastical plants. Ahead of us we see a shimmering path of pink, brown, blue and purple cobblestones. Lush tropical gardens spill over both sides of the undulating path. Every few meters are flower shaped bench seating where we can stop, relax and enjoy a particular garden scene. In and amongst the plants fly sparkling butterflies and dragonflies more brilliantly colored than any flying insects we have seen before.
Following the many twist and turns of the garden path, we come to a lovely suspended rope bridge swinging high over a slow moving stream. Colorful flowers and vines are intertwined everywhere about the rope bridge. As we cross carefully over the bridge we see other guests in floral boats pass underneath us on their way to the interior of Fairy Isle.
As soon as we have passed over the bridge we are immersed in another colorful garden. However, now we notice that some of the flowers are growing much taller. Here and there among the natural garden flowers and plants are much larger flowers growing towards the sun. Velvet orchids, brilliant daisies, and luminescent Lilacs hover over even the tallest of the guests in our group. The translucent petals of these magical flowers catch the sun, which in turn shade and color the gardens and us in hues of purples, pinks, oranges and blues.
As we gaze about at the beauty of this oversize garden we can see the surrounding Enchanted Lake between the giant flower stalks. We wonder if anyone else on opposite shore has noticed the extraordinary size of these enchanted flowers. Continuing on to follow the path the flowers grow bigger and bigger. Soon we also notice beautiful water sounds coming from behind the giant vegetation. Beyond the giant flowers several waterfalls cascade into a large pond. Near these waterfalls dancing fountains play about huge water lilies and lily pads on the surface of the pond. Some water fountains spray outward in shapes that mimic the shapes of flowers.
This is the Water Symphony Gardens, a natural rock garden with seating areas among the many ponds, waterfalls, and lush flower gardens. We can sit and watch guest explore the tricky paths through this water garden while also watching and listening to the water fountain symphony play its soothing musical presentation. Children and adults both delight in following the beautiful multicolored Koi fish swimming in some of the ponds. Be careful if you decide to try one of the lily pad paths or the swinging vine climb across some ponds. You might get more then a little wet.
Moving on we see signs giving us a choice between two paths. To our right is a long bridge that wraps around the Castaway Lagoon next to the Enchanted Lake. This is great spot to take pictures of the colorful Spanish ship marooned in the lagoon or gaze across a panoramic view of the lake. If we go to the left we can enter the Pirates Cave that passes under the six towering waterfalls of the Castaway Lagoon. Once inside the caves we will feel refreshed by the cool moist air swirling about the waterfalls. Looking through the many waterfall curtains we see the undulating and shimmering world outside. Here and there among the cave rocks and hanging roots we see the shells and shapes of creatures that were here before us. And if were very lucky well catch a glimpse of the hidden pirates treasure that came from the unlucky ship outside in the lagoon.
Whichever way we go well soon end up in Green Grotto Playland. Here we can ride, climb, and play on giant flowers, fantastical plants, and whimsical garden bugs.
Which of the following will you do first?
How about the Spiders Lair? The more adventurous teens and children run to climb the spiders web and soft foam rocks of this mysterious structure. Those who take the time to climb to the very tip top of this pile of rocks, vines and spider webs will be rewarded with a spectacular view of Fairy Isle and the surrounding Enchanted Lake. As we watch gleeful youngsters climb ever higher and higher a few parents wonder just where the multi-legged caretaker of this dwelling is hiding.
Other limber folk might head to the Jungle Swing to fly through the air on leafy vines or colorful flower pods. Or, how about a spin on the rotating giant sunflower? Here you compete with others to see who can hang on longest.
Everyone is invited to the Garden Tea Party Theater to see what tale the Garden Party Tea Bugs will buzz about today. You cant past up the chance to see the Gentleman Grasshopper do a tap dance or the Ladybug Leona do the waltz can you?
Some of us take a seat in one of several brightly colored tulip cups for a twirl on the Twirling Flowers ride. No food or drinks please. Youll need both hands to hang on.
If you are looking for something a little more sedate, take a soaring ride on the Sunflower Ferris Wheel, or a couple of turns on the musical Flower Dance Carousel.
From the far side of the Green Grotto Playland we soon catch a whiff of delicious delicacies offered there. Walking over we find beneath a canopy of the surrounding flowers and plants a small village of stone cottages and terraces including the Fairy Grotto Grill. This is where the aroma of freshly baked bread, coffee, tea, and grilled snacks is coming from. There are so many exotic items to choose from we dont know whether to have just a snack or make a sumptuous feast of the whole menu. Once weve selected our food and drinks we walk to one of the many seating terraces with giant leaf umbrellas where we can dine while sitting on mushroom stools. Village fairy folk give us an impromptu magic show.
The grotto village includes several quaint little kiosks with many lovely Fairy Flower Gifts to remind us of our magical tour through the gardens. In one Kiosk we are pleasantly surprised to find images of key moments of our journey projected on several screens. Best of all we can get any of the images printed and framed to take home and treasure for a very long time.
But dont forget to come back on special nights for the Fairy Flower Walk Enchanted Nighttime Show. With special mood lighting, UV lighting effects, glowing mist, flower lanterns, twinkling lights and radiant dancing bugs, youll see an entirely different Fairy Flower Walk altogether.
